Gorleston on sea free beach splash pad

Updated: Jan 31

Whether you are a local resident or staying here on holiday, one of our favourite free days out is to the splash pad in Gorleston on sea.

The splash pad features fountains, a tipping bucket, water sprayers and more. this is along Gorleston beach by the arcades and restaurants. There are a few benches available for parents if you don't wish to join in. I usually opt to enter the splash pad but sit along the walls to avoid the water sprayers.

It can get very busy in summer so we usually go as soon as it opens so it's a little bit quieter.

The beach has plenty of free parking, but again this can get very busy during the summer. I will sometimes park up at the top of the cliffs and walk down the slopes as its generally a bit quieter.

The only downsides for me are that myself and my son were told off for wearing wet shoes. I understand no shoes allowed, but wet shoes should be an exception.

I also don't think the opening times are great. They are only open 10am until 4pm, longer opening times would be amazing. Especially in the summer when the weather is particularly warm. The signs on the splash pad state open May-September yet we tried to visit a few times during the week to find it shut. They only open every day in August. All other months are only open weekends if the weather is exceptionally nice.

If you do decide to visit let me know what you all think. I love that it is free as we are always on a bit of a tight budget and its great for passing time during the summer holidays.
